Police Kill 2 Highway Robbers in Ogun, Recover Arms

The efforts of the Ogun state police command to rid the state of robbers and hoodlums paid off on Tuesday when the Anti Crime teams attached to the command encountered highway robbers at various points and engaged them in fierce gun battles that led to the death of 2 suspected robbers who were caught in the acts and recovered some arms and ammunition from them.

On Tuesday, a Special Anti Robbery Squad team in Ogun State led by one Inspector Allen Julius raced to a robbery scene at Kobape along Abeokuta/Sagamu Expressway where a 3 man robbery gang was robbing some commuters at 5pm and engaged them. In the process, one of them fell and one Opeloyeru Razak was injured and arrested with 2 locally made pistols, 30 live cartridges and their operational LIFAN Motorcycle with Reg No ABG 531 QC.

In another development, the DPO Agbara Division Chief Superintendent of Police Ayo Sonubi led a team of policemen and Vigilante Service of Ogun State which engaged some armed robbers who were operating at Odugbe along Atan/ Agbara Expressway and one of them fell while 2 of them namely Aliu Isa, 23 and 19-year-old Abiodun Omotayo of 32 Agbawi street Okokomaiko Lagos State were arrested.

The Police PRO of the Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Police Force, Muyiwa Adejobi disclosed to Street Journal that “the Commissioner of Police Ogun State, CP Ikemefuna Okoye,, has directed that those arrested be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for thorough investigation. He has also directed that all officers and men in the command should work harder to provide adequate security for the good people of Ogun State during the yuletide season and beyond”.
