Ogun CP Constitutes Investigation Team on Political Crisis

Following the political crisis that occurred at Wasinmi, Ewekoro Local Government of Ogun State between two political groups on Thursday, the Commissioner of Police Ogun state CP Ikemefuna Okoye has constituted an investigation team to be led by the command’s Assistant Commissioner of Police in charge investigation, ACP Aminu Alhassan to carry out thorough investigation into the incident.

The Commissioner of police formed the team in his office on Friday after his brief meeting with the management team of the command.

CP Okoye ordered the team to arrest or invite those concerned or indicted in the crisis and forward its report to him within a week.

CP Okoye also expressed his disappointment in those who cast aspersions on the police of complicity and bias in  the crisis; and considered it as  unfair since some policemen too were injured in the crisis and the Police officers present at the scene performed their official duties diligently. He stressed further that the command will not in anyway be involved in any political games since such will be contrary to the ethics of the Nigeria Police Force.

In a statement issued by the spokesman of the police in the state, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi, the command advised politicians to play politics with decorum and in line with the ethics of politics as a profession. “Those involved in any political thuggery or crisis will not be spared in any way”, Adejobi stated.
