Senator Isaiah Chawai Balat, the Special Assistant to the Vice President on Special Duties has died.
61-year-old Balat, who hailed from the southern part of Kaduna served as the Minister of State for Works and Housing from June, 1999 to 2000 and later represented his district as a Senator from 2003- 2007.
He founded the Isaiah Balat Foundation, through which he fought the scourge of meningitis by providing vaccination with over a million beneficiaries in Kaduna State.
The former Minister gave up the ghost on Tuesday afternoon. One of his allies, Philip Sule has confirmed his demise.
