The Nigeria Police Force on Tuesday paraded 10 suspects who were arrested in connection with the torture and sodomy of three women, leading to the death of one of the victims. The three victims of the cruel act had been accused of stealing pepper in Ejigbo area of Lagos in 2013.
Back then, two women were apprehended for allegedly stealing pepper and were tortured for more than 6 hours with pepper and broken bottles inserted into their private parts.
The suspects were paraded at a conference held at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad unit in Lagos.
The suspects who were paraded on Tuesday included the Babaloja of the Ejigbo Market, Isiaka Waheed, the Iyaloja and others involved in the heinous crime.
While addressing newsmen, the Police PPRO, Mr. Frank Mba disclosed that four other suspects who are still at large are wanted in connection with the crime.
They include Tiri (surname unknown), the suspect who stripped the young girl naked and also captured the torture on tape, Tepa Oluranti, Akeem (surname unknown) and Michael Abolore.
The Nigeria police headquarters, the Lagos State Office of the Public Defender (OPD) and civil society organizations led by the Women Arise team thanked members of the public who volunteered information that helped in tracking the suspects. They urged the public to assist with information that could lead to the arrest of the other suspects at large.
