PRP Chieftain Bags 14 Years Jail Term for Fraud

Justice Filibus Adertu of the Taraba State High Court, Jalingo, last Friday, convicted and handed a 14 years jail term to Suleiman Aliyu, a chieftain of the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP but with the option of paying N300, 000 in restitution to the victim.
Aliyu who is the PRP Vice Chairman in Taraba State was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on a two count charge of conspiracy and criminal breach of trust in violation of Sections 97 and 315 of the Penal Code.

His arraignment was sequel to a petition by the National Chairman of Peoples Redemption Party, PRP, Alhaji Abdulkadir Balarabe Musa wherein he claimed that the accused conspired with Sule Soja, the party’s chairman in Taraba State to sell and convert proceeds of an 18 seater Nissan Bus, property of the PRP, for personal use.

Investigations revealed that Aliyu sold the bus and bought another 12 seater bus with the proceeds, and subsequently put the new bus to commercial use for his personal benefit.

The sum of N300, 000 which was the balance from the sale of the 18 seater bus after the 12 seater bus was purchased, was converted to personal use by the convict.
