Aftermath of Boat Mishap: Lagos Bans Night Travels on Water

The deadly boat mishap that occurred in Festac, Lagos where 13 people died has led to the decision by the Lagos State Government to ban night movement on the waterways.
The boat which was said to have been transporting people at night was overloaded and none of its passenger wore life jackets.
The passenger canoe was said to have been ferrying people from one part of the river to the other and the route it was travelling was said not to be an authorised path for ferries.
As of the time of filing this report on Friday morning, rescuers were still in the river trying to find the remaining victims of the boat mishap.
Meanwhile, a new law has just been made in Lagos that waterways open at 6am and close by 6pm.
