Mixed Reactions Trail D’banj’s Federal Appointment!

Singer, Dapo Oyebanji popularly known as D’banj has been given a new contract by Nigeria’s Ministry of Agriculture .
D’banj who many believe is close to the government of President Goodluck Jonathan has been appointed an ambassador for the Nagroprenuers Initiative.
The project which is targeted at creating 750,000 young entrepreneurial farmers in Nigeria is using the singer as the face to attract the youth among whom it is believed D’banj wields some influence.
The Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development, Akinwumi Adesina said the initiative is set by the Federal Government to attract Nigerian youth to agriculture and he said after much consultation that D’banj was picked as the Ambassador for the project based on his popularity among the youths and his role model figure.
D’banj after being unveiled as the new ambassador for Nageopreneurs stated that when he was young he didn’t see Agriculture as a viable sector, but that now he is proud to be associated with the project and be an ambassador to champion the move of youth involvement in agriculture.
The singer disclosed he has a plan to start a farm which would be known as Koko Farm to let the youth understand the importance of agriculture.
Mixed reactions have been trailing the appointment of D’banj for the project.
Many observers argued that there were many popular individuals that have contributed to the growth of agriculture in Nigeria that would have fitted well into the role other than D’banj who they see as just a sex symbol.
D’banj’s contract with the Agriculture Ministry is revealed to have fetched him millions of naira.
His role as an ambassador is to compose an anthem for the project and be present at various launching stages of the Nagopreneurs initiative.
