Ogun Police Teams Arrest Armed Robbers, Rapist

The Ogun State Police command has confirmed the arrest of about 9 suspected armed robbers from 2 locations in the state. The spokesman of the Command, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi stated that the arrests were made on Saturday 29th March.

Adejobi disclosed to Street Journal that the team of thr Special Anti Robbery Squad of Ogun State Police Command on Saturday intercepted a syndicate of armed robbers at Sagamu junction,on a tip off, while planning to rob commuters along sagamu/Benin Expressway at about 2pm.
The PPRO also stated that as a result of the gun battle that ensued between the robbers and the SARS men, the trio of Kolawole Fasasi, Sunday Oduwole and Ebenezer Abel were arrested with fatal bullet injuries while others escaped with wounds.

Items recovered from the suspects include a pump action gun with four rounds of cartridges,one double bareled pistol, some charms and a KIA car with registration number KTU 793 BB which had been snatched by the syndicate earlier along Wasinmi/Papalanto Road at gun point. The owner of the car identified them as those who snatched the car from her at gun point and the said car had since been released to her as directed by the commissioner of police CP Ikemefuna Okoye.

In a statement signed by Adejobi and made available to Street Journal, it was stated that policemen attached to Ilese Division in Ijebu area of Ogun State arrested 6 suspected armed robbers who robbed some commuters in the area around 4 am on Sunday.

The statement read that “the police immediately went on search and raid of about four suspected houses in Ilese Ijebu  after the report was made at the station and arrested Sanusi Wasiu, Adewale Abass, Ramon Salau, Olatunji Emiloju, Olawale Olugbenga and Dare Osunkanya.

18 live cartridges, one UTC knife, one dagger,one axe,one hammer and other offensive weapons suspected to have been used in their robbery operations  were recovered from their houses. The victims of their operations have identified them  accordingly”.
While stating that the matter will be taken to the  Department of Criminal Investigation, Eleweran Abeokuta for further investigation, DSP Adejobi also said the command has arrested one Biodun Ogunyobi, 19,of Mile 2 Area Ayetoro Road Abeokuta for raping a lady of 17 years in his area.

He said the young lady who was sent by her mother to purchase a jar of kerosene was called by the suspect to assist him in carrying “something”  was eventually dragged in by Biodun and had unlawful carnal knowledge of the lady.

The suspect has been arrested and necessary medical examinations had been carried out to confirm the allegation.

The matter will be thoroughly handled in Eleweran and the suspect will definitely face the wrath of the law.
It was contained in the statement that “CP Ikemefuna Okoye has ordered that those arrested so far be investigated and  that those found culpable will not go unpunished as the command will leave no stone unturned in making sure that justice is done”
