Nigeria moved up two places to occupy the 45th position in the latest FIFA ranking released on Thursday.
The African champions had occupied the 47th position in the last ranking. Presently, Nigeria is ranked the 6th best in Africa, coming behind Cote d’ Ivoire which is ranked 21st and the 1st in Africa and Egypt which occupies the 2nd best position in Africa and 24th in the overall list. Algeria is Africa’s third best and the 25th in the world. Ghana, another African representative at the 2014 World Cup is on the 4th position on the African list and 38th in the world. Cape Verde Islands are on the list as the 5th best in Africa and the 42nd best in the world.
The overall ranking has Spain and Germany occupying the first and second positions respectively, while on the third position is Portugal which moved up by one slot and followed by Ciolombia which also moved up from its previous 5th position.
Uruguay and Argentina follow closely as the 5th and 6th best respectively.
