The Ogun State Police Command on Friday rescued a man who was seen tied up with ropes in his jeep, a Honda Pilot with registration number EKY 281 BR, which was earlier snatched by 4 armed men at Oregun area, Awolowo Way,Ikeja Lagos State, at Isheri area along Lagos/Ibadan Expressway.
The police team attached to Ojodu Abiodun Division of the command suspected the jeep, which was driven recklessly with four occupants, while on its routine patrol along the express road.
The police team gave a hot chase to the said jeep and this eventually compelled the occupants to abandon the vehicle and flee into the bush. While speaking on the incident, the spokesman of the Ogun State Police Command, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi said in the course of searching the jeep,the owner was seen in the vehicle with his hands and legs tied with ropes. Three double barelled guns and 20 live cartridges were recovered from the vehicle.
Adejobi also stated that the team immediately rescued the man who then narrated his ordeal in the hands of the hoodlums to the police. “He is assisting the police with useful information to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
The commissioner of police ogun state CP Ikemefuna Okoye has ordered the Divisional Police Officer in charge Ojodu Abiodun Division to make sure the fleeing hoodlums are apprehended for necessary investigation”, Adejobi said
