Police detectives attached to Adatan Division of the Ogun State Command recently swooped on a syndicate of thieves who specialize in stealing motor parts from mechanic workshops in Abeokuta and arrested two of them for stealing two car engines at a mechanic workshop along Abiola Way Abeokuta Ogun State.
The detectives got a tip off on the stealing as the mechanic in whose possession the engines were kept for repairs before the incident and the real owners of the items volunteered to assist the police in its investigation; and the suspects 34-year-old Kayode Adenekan, of Abata area Abiola Way, Abeokuta and 44-year-old Funsho Ogungbade of No 34 Ajisadu area Abeokuta, a receiver, were arrested.
Both men were charged to Magistrate Court 1 Isabo Abeokuta with charge No MA/3426/2014 and were granted bail with the sum of one hundred thousand naira only each.
In a statement signed by the PRO of the Command, Muyiwa Adejobi, it was pointed out that “the command wishes to collaborate with all stakeholders particularly various associations of workers in Ogun State to tackle some of these social vices that are of great concern in our society”.
The command also advised artisans and/or mechanics to enhance the security of their workshops by relating with the local police around them always.
Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr Ikemefuna Okoye has warned that anyone caught in such acts and other related vices will be made to face the wrath of the law while any association found culpable will not be speared in anyway.
CP Okoye promised to work with other security agencies in the state and relevant government .agencies and parastatals to sustain the existing good security networking in Ogun.
