The Ogun State police command has announced the arrest of 5 suspected robbers who were trailed with a BlackBerry PIN. The suspects were arrested in connection with the robbery at a shop in Duduyemi Complex, Ilese Ijebu in April 2014 by detectives attached to the Ilese Division.
The suspected robbers had earlier attacked the shopping complex and carted away many phones and items worth one million naira belonging to the complainant before they escaped.
The detectives placed the suspects under surveillance in all areas including social media before one Omobadejo Benjamin who resides in Abeokuta Ogun State was tracked down with one of the BB PINs and eventually arrested.
Benjamin claimed to have bought the Curve 3 Blackberry from one Adebanjo Adeyinka of Soyoye area Abeokuta for five thousand naira only. Adeyinka was also arrested by the police. While conducting a search in Adeyinka’s house,many phones including Blackberry,iPhones,flash drives,modems ets were recovered from him.
The complainant was able to identify the items belonging to him immediately.
Adeyinka also claimed to have got the items from one Tunde in Lagos. Police detectives proceeded to Lagos where additional 3 suspects were arrested in connection with the robbery.
Efforts are in top gear to apprehend all suspects connected with the case wherever they are. And other stolen items from the shop will be recovered by the police.
The Commissioner of Police Ogun State CP Ikemefuna Okoye has directed the detectives to work hard in order to apprehend other suspects and recover the items while their arms and ammunition are recovered as well.
The Commissioner also commended the complainant for his cooperation with the police for having a good investigation; and the police detectives attached to Ilese Division for their commitment in carrying out an ICT-Based Investigation,which has been perceived as a welcome development in the Nigeria Police.
