Brazil 2014: Yobo Quits as France Shoots Down Eagles!

Nigeria’s 2014 World Cup campaign ended on a sad note as the Super Eagles were eliminated in a Round of 16 match by the Les Bleus of France.
The Nigerians started the game on a bright note making the star-studded French team look ordinary. The Eagles would have drawn the first blood had Emenike Emmanuel’s gola not been disallowed for offside positioning.
Lille’s Vincent Enyeama proved his mettle as one of the best goalkeepers in the French League 1 as he made spectacular saves that denied the French a goal. His error of judgment however gave Paul Pogba an opportunity to head in the first goal with ten minutes to go in the second half.
As the game wound up, Nigeria’s most capped player, Joseph Yobo who incidentally was playing his 100th match for the Eagles diverted a cross from Mathieu Valbuena into the Nigerian net thus giving the Frech a two nil victory.
France will play against the winner of the game between Algeria and Germany in the quarter finals.
Meanwhile, Joseph Yobo has announced his retirement from international soccer as he said he has nothing new to offer and would be “giving younger players a chance”.
