Danger looms as erosion cuts Old Abeokuta Road into two

Any moment from now motorists along the old Abeokuta Road near the popular Oko Oba abattoir will be prevented from plying the road as the road is about to be divided into two as a result of damages caused by erosion.

Already almost half of one side of the road has become a death trap which forces motorists and pedestrians to compete for only one lane along the road.

Meanwhile some good samaritans have reportedly placed some objects such as long planks and disused tyres around the spot to warn drivers of the danger of the damaged portion of the road.

Located just about 300 metres away from the entrance of the busy Oko Oba abattoir on the way to Abule Egba, those working around the area said officials of the Lagos State had come once last week to examine the area adding that nothing had been done to arrest the damage.
