The Government of Gombe State has approved the appointment of Alhaji Abubakar Shehu-Abubakar as the Emir of Gombe.
36-year-old Ahaji Shehu- Abubakar replaces his father, Alhaji Shehu Abubakar, the 10th Emir of Gombe who died on May 27.
A letter of appointment to that effect was delivered to the new Emir at the Central Mosque on Friday by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Abubakar Bage. He noted that though there were ten applicants to the position, they were streamlined to three and Alhaji Abubakar Shehu-Abubakar was appointed. The Chief Imam of the Gombe Central Mosque, Khadi Aliyu Pindiga thereafter presented the Emir with a copy of the Holy Qur’ an.
Shehu Abubakar was born on December 17, 1977 and he graduated from the University of Maiduguri with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science.
The new Emir who is not married yet was a Supervisory Councillor in the Gombe Local Government Council between 2006 and 2007. He also worked as the Personal Assistant to the Director of Administration, Ministry of Defence, Abuja between 2007 and 2009. He was until his appointment as Emir, the Santurakin Gombe.
He is the Chairman of Kliptown Lagoon Nigeria Limited.
