I Want To Be Like Awolowo – Fayose

The Governor-elect in Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose has said he would want to be like Obafemi Awolowo by way of his political actions, expressing his desire to be respected like the political icon.

Fayose, on Sunday addressed journalists following his victory at the polls in Ekiti State, promising to work with outgoing governor, Kayode Fayemi, toward the progress of the state.

During the chat, he said he would work with Fayemi on all uncompleted projects and ensure that they were finished and not abandoned as is the trend when new governments take over office.

He also said he wants to tar all untarred roads in Ado Ekiti in two years and pay civil servants on 21st of every month.

Meanwhile, Governor Fayemi, who believes the interest of the people of Ekiti must prevail over his personal ambition, had sent congratulatory messages to the Governor-elect, Ayo Fayose, wishing him success during his reign.

Street Journal also gathered that a top PDP member in Ekiti State, Mr. Yemi Olayinka has described the level of maturity demonstrated by outgoing Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi as one that reflects the beauty of the Ekiti people.

Expressing his pride at the level of friendship displayed between Governor Fayemi and Mr Fayose, Olayinka noted that Fayemi had demonstrated the kind of maturity and sportsmanship that is unusual but highly needed in the Nigerian polity.
