Jonathan Visits EMAB Blast Scene

After cutting short a foreign tour, President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday visited EMAB Plaza, the scene of Wednesday’s suicide bomb attack that killed more than 30 people in Abuja, Nigeria’s federal capital.

The President also visited Maitama General Hospital, where some of the survivors of the attack are being treated.

President Jonathan was briefed at the scene by AIG Suleiman Abba. The President described the recent onslaught of the Book Haram sect as a dark phase in the history of Nigeria. He called on Nigerians to bear with the government as security agents battle to terrosists in order to subdue them.
He stressed Ghats it was regrettable that while the government is trying to focus on nation building, some people are working at cross-purpose with the government.
Those who accompanied the President included the Minister of Health, Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu, Brig.-Gen. Jones Arogbofa, the Chief of Staff to the President and other top government officials.
