The Ogun State Police Command on Wednesday announced the arrest of 3 suspected armed robbers.
DSP Muyowa Adejobi, the command’s spokesman announced the arrest in a statement. He revealed that the “Anti-robbery team attached to Agbado Division led by the Divisional Police Office CSP Gbenga Megbope arrested three suspects out of the 4 members of a robbery gang that has been terrorizing the innocent people of Ijoko Area of Ogun State.
The robbery gang had on 6th May 2014 robbed some of the complainants at Salvation Avenue Ijoko Market of Ogun State of their belongings worth millions of naira.
The police detectives had placed a manhunt on them before two of them, Raheem Olorunbayo, and Wahab Azeez, were arrested on 27th May in Ijoko Area with a locally made pistol.
With aggressive investigation, the arrest of the duo led to the arrest of another member of the gang who is a major receiver of their stolen items, Ahmed Ganiyu.”
The police spokesman also hinted that “the items recovered from the robbers included 3 laptops,40 various mobile phones and iPhones, two 32″ Plasma TV, Home theatres, generating sets etc. All these recovered items have been identified by the victims of their various robbery operations. The suspects have confessed to the crimes and will soon be charged to court after police investigation.
The commissioner of police in Ogun State CP Ikemefuna Okoye has directed the DPO of the area to apprehend the fleeing members of the gang and make sure that the people in the area enjoy adequate protection of lives and property.”
He further assured the good people of Ogun State of adequate security in nookes and cranies of Ogun and maintain the present sound security networking on ground.
