Reports reaching Street Journal reveals that a suspected terror kingpin in the list of wanted terrorists of security forces in Nigeria has been detected in the ongoing screening of the 486 suspects nabbed while travelling in over 33 Toyota Hiace Hummer buses at night along Enugu-Port Harcourt expressway last Sunday.
In a statement, the military spokesman, Major General Olukolade, said so far, other security agencies including the para-military had joined the screening exercise to ascertain the status of the remaining suspects.
“Those identified as possible security risk or illegal immigrants are expected to be identified for further action,” the statement read.
Meanwhile, the identified terror kingpin has been taken into custody for further questioning.
The military said it would continue its fight against the terrorists that had attacked several villages, schools and churches in the northeast.
It would be recalled that the terrorist group named Boko Haram is currently holding captive over 200 girls abducted from a school in Chibok Borno State since April 14. The abduction had triggered protests in Nigeria and some other countries with a call on the Nigerian government to do more in the effort to rescue the girls.
International communities are providing intelligence support to the Nigerian Armed Forces in the fight against the terrorist group.
