Barely 24 hours after the killing of some armed robbers in a shoot out with a police team in Agbado, Ogun State, another anti robbery team attached to the Ajuwon Division of the Ogun State Police Command on Tuesday arrested three suspected armed robbers on Tuesday. The suspects were arrested around 2 am after robbing a man at Olumoro Street, Olambe in Ajuwon.
Street Journal gathered that the police team gave the robbers a hot chase, following a distress call that there had been a robbery. The team eventually caught up with the robbers around Olambe junction and arrested three out of the robbers with the sum of fifty thousand,four hundred and ninety five Naira(#50,495:00) taken away from the victim, some guns and mobile phones.
The spokesman of the Ogun State Police Command, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi told Street Journal that the robbers had fired some shots at the victim which left some injuries on him before they escaped from the scene. He also stated that he has been taken to the hospital by the Divisional Police Officer in charge Ajuwon Division for proper medical attention, and he is responding to treatment.
The suspects arrested include Victor Akindele,24, of Ojodu Isheri, Muritalah Ahmed,27, of Alagbole Ojodu Area and Afolabi Olatunji,32,of Alagbole Ojodu Area. The suspects came on a motorcycle for the robbery operation.
In a statement, Adejobi made it known that “the Commissioner of Police Ogun State, CP Ikemefuna Okoye has directed that the suspects be taken to the Department of Criminal Investigation Eleweran Abeokuta for thorough investigation;and has commended those who made the distress call to the police for their civic responsibility towards adequate security of lives and property in Ogun State and the policemen who raced down to the area and gave a hot chase to arrest the suspected robbers”.
CP Okoye has also directed the Area Commander in Otta Area Command of the state,ACP Titi Kayode to make sure he supervises his officers and men in his Area Command as the Ogun State Police command will not tolerate any criminal act or social vices in the area.
