The Ogun State Police Command has deployed more than 4,000 officers and men for the Eid-el-Fitr celebration coming in the state.
The personnel drawn from almost all police formations in Ogun are being deployed to major places,including worship centres, expressways and recreation centres for adequate protection of lives and property during the celebration.
Spokesman of the Ogun State Police Command, Muyiwa Adejobi stated that” the deployment was contained clearly in the operation order prepared and signed on behalf of the Commissioner of Police Ogun State, CP Ikemefuna Okoye by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge Department of Operations Ogun State, DCP Agberebi E. Akpoebi where every major vulnerable point is adequately considered for security”.
Adejobi’s statement also read that “the Commissioner of Police has directed all Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers and Heads of Departments to be on their toes and make sure there is proper policing in nooks and crannies of the state as he will not tolerate any ugly incident recorded from any part of Ogun state during and after the celebration.”
CP Okoye used the opportunity to felicitate with Muslim faithfuls and encouraged them to keep the spirit of the Ramadan period always for it will promote unity,patriotism and mutual coexistence amongst the people of Ogun State and Nigerians in general.
The command has also encouraged people to be security conscious as ever and support the police in its efforts to provide adequate security for all and sundry in the gateway state even beyond the Eid-el-Fitr.
