Police detectives attached to the Ibafo Divisional Headquarters of the Ogun State Police Command, led by the Divisional Police Officer, CSP Salawu Jimoh have discovered the body of one Mr Habeeb Olatunde, 44, a native of Kwara State, the manager of a commercial bank, who had been declared missing since 18th June 2014, in an uncompleted building at Arepo,near Ibafo, at about 3pm on Saturday 5th July.
According to a statement issued by the spokesman of the command, DSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the decomposing body was found hanged in the building when the police detectives arrived at the scene.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the top bank official committed suicide by hanging.
The police command had circulated the news of his missing case as reported at Ibafo Division on 19th June 2014 and the police intensified efforts to find him before his body was discovered after a thorough search with the help of members of the community.
Adejobi also stated that while investigation was on, it was revealed that the deceased actually complained of stress in the office and was permitted to have a rest. The suicidal act was done while he was on casual leave.
His corpse has been released to his family for burial according to Islamic riteIs as no mark of violence was seen on the body and no foul play suspected.
The Commissioner of Police Ogun State, CP Ikemefuna Okoye commended the members of the community for their support and usual cooperation towards achieving adequate security of lives and property in Arepo and Ogun state in general.
It was also contained in the statement that the commissioner commiserated with the family of the deceased, members of his community and his colleagues in office for the loss. He prayed that God will give them the fortitude to bear the loss.
