The Ogun State Police Command on Thursday announced that detectives attached to the Department of Criminal Investigation, Eleweran Abeokuta have tracked down two kidnappers who tactically kidnapped two student victims at Molipa Ijebu Ode Ogun State.
The prime suspect, 27-year-old Kingson Sunday had been a friend to the family of the victims and helped in conveying the victims to and from their school, Imperial International School, Molipa Ijebu Ode before he decided to kidnap the duo of Tolulope Kosoko,9, and Omodolapo Kosoko,7, in Ijebu Ode on 8th July 2014.
When the prime suspect Mr Sunday,a teacher, contacted the parents of the victims,he demanded for five hundred thousand Naija only (500,000) ransom before the release of the two victims. He sent the account details of the second suspect, August Johnson,47, a teacher residing at Ohaozara in Ebonyi State.
To track him down,the police credited the said account with one hundred and fifty naira(150, 000) and penciled down the account in the bank; and the suspects were arrested while making efforts to withdraw the money from that account with the help of the police informants placed on surveillance in Ebonyi State.
Incidentally, Mr Sunday had changed the names of the victims in Ebonyi. He changed the name of Tolulope Kosoko to BISHOP,while that of Omodolapo was changed to TUREY
It was contained in a statement signed by the PRO of the command, DSP Muyiwa Adejobi that the suspects were arrested in Ohaukwu Ebonyi on 15th July by the police detectives of Ogun State after a fierce and rigorous investigation.
The parents of the rescued victims are full of joy and have appreciated the effort of the police in rescuing the students. While the Commissioner of Police Ogun State CP Ikemefuna Okoye gave kudos to the police detectives for the great job. CP Okoye encouraged the general public to always keep their kids in the hands of trusted persons who are of great repute in the community.
