Man, 27, in Police Net For Abducting Traffic Warden

The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a young man, Tosin Owolola, 27, for abducting a traffic warden at Iyana Mortuary Abeokuta Ogun State.

The incident occurred last Saturday when the traffic warden who was at his point in Abeokuta flagged down the man driving his car against the traffic at Iyana Mortuary. The suspect however hit the traffic warden and he (warden) fell on the bonnet of the car. The suspect kept on driving for a distance of more than 4 kilometers, with the traffic warden on his bonnet.

It took the efforts of members of the public and other police men on patrol, who were called on distress to rescue the traffic warden from the man in the Kemta Idi Aba jungle, where he drove into.

Owolola, who was heavily drunk at the time of the incident is a technician with Ordinary National Diploma in Business Studies from the Lagos State Polytechnic, and hails from Imo, Abeokuta, in Abeokuta South Local Government of Ogun State.

The Commissioner of Police Ogun State CP Ikemefuna Okoye has directed that thorough investigation should be conducted and that the suspect be subjected to some medical examinations before he would be charged to court in order to serve as deterrent to others who are fond of harassing and assaulting security agents on duty.

CP Okoye also warned that such acts will no longer be tolerated as he stated that it is the duty of the command to attach great importance to the welfare of its personnel. He therefore urged the general public to accord adequate respect to all security agents who are being deployed to perform their statutory or special duties within the state and in general.
