“Nigeria Has Successfully Blocked Ebola”- FG

The Minister for Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu, on Tuesday announced that Nigeria has successfully reduced the number of cases of the deadly Ebola Virus Disease to one.
While speaking at a press conference, the Health Minister confirmed that as of Tuesday, only one Ebola patient remained in isolation, down from the 13 cases that have been confirmed since the disease broke out in July.
Chukwu pointed out that Nigeria has had 13 cases so far, including the index case. He disclosed that five of the people infected died while seven have recovered successfully and have been discharged.
The Minister also made it known that two of the nurses who managed Patrick Sawyer, the index case were discharged from the isolation centre in Lagos on Monday.
While announcing that Nigeria has been able to curtail Ebola Virus Disease in the country, Chukwu noted that all the 129 people that were placed under surveillance have completed the 21-day observation incubation period and the only person found to be sypmtomatic is the one still being observed.
