Trading activities on the Nigerian stock exchange decreased by 9.96% on Friday as investors bought 245.92 million shares worth N2.77 billion, in 3,806 deals, compared to 273.11 million shares worth N4.62 billion, in 4,342 deals exchanged on Thursday.
Access bank Plc, Mansard Insurance Plc and FBNH Plc were the most actively traded stocks on the exchange today in terms of volume, while Access Bank Plc and Oando Plc, topped in terms of value.
The Nigerian Stock Exchanges-All Share Index appreciated by 0.10% (+39.12) to close at 40,819.72 from 40,780.00 attained on Thursday. Market capitalisation also increased to N13.48 trillion from N13.47 trillion the previous trading day. The BGL 50 Index also followed suit with a 0.06%gain to close at 176.17 from 176.06, while the market cap stood at N12.71 trillion from N12.70 trillion recorded on Thursday.
A total number of 30 stocks gained on the bourse today while 16 stocks declined leaving 66 stocks unchanged. 7-Up Bottling Comp. Plc emerged the toast of investors as it appreciated by 10.25% to close at N147.73 kobo, followed by Mansard Insurance Plc with a 9.09% gain to close at N3.00 Others on the gainers chart include Custodian and Allied Insurance Plc, Seplat Petroleum Dev. Co. Ltd. Plc and Guinness Nigeria Plc.
On the flip side CAP Plc topped the losers chart with 4.74% decline to close at N39.00, followed by Dangote Cement Plc. which declined by 1.78% to close at N220.00 kobo. Others on the losers table include; Wapic Insurance Plc, Livestock Feeds Plc and National Salt Company Nigeria Plc.
