Trading activities on the Nigerian stock exchange increased by 120.27% as investors bought 580.25 million shares worth N4.63 billion, in 4,388 deals, compared to 273.43 million shares worth N2.72 billion, in 4,188 deals exchanged on Thursday. UBA Capital plc, UBA Plc, and Guaranty Trust Bank Plc were the most actively traded stocks on the exchange today in terms of volume, while Guaranty Trust Bank Plc and UBA Capital, topped in terms of value.
The Nigerian Stock Exchanges-All Share Index appreciated by 0.90% (+365.82) to close at 41,049.28 from 40,683.45 attained on Thursday. Market capitalisation also increased to N13.55 trillion from N13.43 trillion the previous trading day. The Thisday BGL 50 Index also followed suit with a higher 0.94% gain to close at 177.04 from 175.39, while the market cap stood at N12.77 trillion from N12.65 trillion recorded on Thursday.
A total number of 31 stocks gained on the bourse today while 23 stocks declined leaving 58 stocks unchanged. AIICO Insurance Plc emerged the toast of investors as it appreciated by 4.94% to close at N0.85 kobo, followed by Nestle Plc with a 3.89% gain to close at N1,050.00. Others on the gainers chart include; CCNN Plc, International Breweries Plc and UBA Plc
On the flip side, UPDC Plc. topped the losers chart with a 4.15% decline to close at N14.55, followed by Mobil Nigeria Plc. which declined by 3.33%% to close at N174.00 kobo. Others on the losers table include; Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc, Wapic Insurance Plc and Livestock Feeds Plc
