Saudi declares Friday, Oct. 3 Arafat Day

The authorities of the Republic of Saudi Arabia has declared Friday, October 1, as the Arafat Day, being the eight day of the month of Dul-Hijah.
The Arafat day is the day that all pilgrims to the holy land of Makkah converge on Mount Arafat to supplicate to God and offer prayers.
By implication, the announcement indicates that this year’s Eid-Il-Adah celebration by all Muslims world over would be observed on Saturday, October 4, 2014.
The Street Journal gathered that Lagos State Commissioner for Home Affairs and the Amir Hajj of Lagos, Oyinlomo Danmole, told Lagos pilgrims in Makkah that the state government had put in place enough measures to ensure that all Lagos pilgrims enjoy their stay in Saudi to the fullest.
He pleaded with the pilgrims to restrain from over exposing themselves to the scorching sun which he said poses serious health challenges to people.
Virtually all pilgrims to this year’s hajj have converged in Makkah, with the highest pilgrims of over 400,000 coming from Indonesia.
