Trading activities on the Nigerian stock exchange decreased by 40.55% as investors bought 344.98 million shares worth N4.13 billion, in 4,663 deals, compared to 580.25 million shares worth N4.63 billion, in 4,388 deals exchanged on Friday.
FBNH Plc, Wapic Insurance Plc, and Skye Bank Plc were the most actively traded stocks on the exchange today in terms of volume, while FBNH Plc and Nestle Plc, topped in terms of value.
The Nigerian Stock Exchanges-All Share Index depreciated by 0.16% (-65.16) to close at 40,984.12 from 41,049.28 attained on Friday. Market capitalization also decreased to N13.53 trillion from N13.55 trillion the previous trading day. The Thisday BGL 50 Index also followed suit with a 0.18% loss to close at 176.72 from 177.04, while the market cap stood at N12.75 trillion from N12.77 trillion recorded on Friday.
A total number of 29 stocks gained on the bourse today while 23 stocks declined leaving 71 stocks unchanged. Wapic Insurance Plc emerged the toast of investors as it appreciated by 6.94% to close at N0.77 kobo, followed by Julius Berger Plc with a 5.00% gain to close at N67.20 Others on the gainers chart include; PZ Cussons Nigeria Plc, Ashaka Cement Plc and Lafarge Wapco Plc.
On the flip side Ecobank Transnational Incorporated Plc. topped the losers chart with a 4.74% decline to close at N18.20, followed by AIICO Insurance Plc. which declined by 3.53%% to close at N0.82 kobo. Others on the losers table include; Unilever Nigeria Plc, Transcorp Plc and International Breweries Plc.
Honeywell Flour Mills Plc Released its Q1 2014, showing a 0.69% decline in revenue from N13.28 billion to N13.19 billion. Nevertheless the decline in revenue, profit before tax increased significantly from N110 million to N585 million while net income also followed suit with a significant 516% rise from N75 million from N462 million.
