Lafarge Wapco Tops Losers’ Chart With 5% Decline, As Investors’ Appetite Continues To Wane

Trading activities on the Nigerian stock exchange increased by 24.81% as investors bought 524.22 million shares worth N7.65 billion, in 4,779.00 deals, compared to 420.01 million shares worth N4.61 billion, in 5,497.00 deals exchanged on Wednesday. FBNH Plc, Zenith Bank Plc and Ecobank Transnational Incorporated were the most actively traded stocks on the exchange today in terms of volume, while Zenith Bank Plc and Ecobank Transnational Incorporated topped in terms of value.
The Nigerian Stock Exchanges-All Share Index depreciated by 2.01% (-787.80) to close at 38,490.67 from 39,278.47 attained on Wednesday, which represents a 6.87% year to date loss. Market capitalisation also decreased to 12.71 trillion from N12.97 trillion the previous trading day. The BGL 50 Index also followed suit with a 1.98% loss to close at 165.68 from 169.01, while the market capitalisation stood at N11.95 trillion from N12.19 trillion recorded on Wednesday.
A total number of 10 stocks gained on the bourse today while 41 stocks declined leaving 61 stocks unchanged. 7-Up Bottling Comp. Plc. emerged the toast of investors as it appreciated by 10.24% to close at N162.86 kobo, followed by Cutix Plc with a 4.79% gain to close at N1.97kobo. Others on the gainers chart include Honeywell Flour Mill Plc, Costain (W A) Plc and RT Briscoe Plc. On the flip side Caverton Offshore Support GRP Plc. topped the losers chart with 9.09% declines to close at N4.40 followed by Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc which declined by 5.00% to close at N7.22 kobo. Others on the losers table include Conoil Plc, Forte Oil Plc and Lafarge Wapco Plc.
Topping the chart amongst the BGL 50 stocks was 7-Up Bottling Comp. Plc. which appreciated by 10.24% to close at N162.86 kobo, followed by Honeywell Flour Mill Plc with a 4.34% gain to close at N3.85. Others on the gainers chart include Fidelity Bank Plc, FCMB Group Plc and International Breweries Plc. On the flip side Lafarge Wapco Plc topped the losers chart with 5.00% decline to close at N116.85 followed by Forte Oil Plc which declined by 5.00% to close at N207.10 kobo. Others on the losers table include; Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc, U A C N Plc and Oando Plc.
