Peter Obi, Former Anambra Governor, Joins PDP

Former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi has finally joined the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He was formerly of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, a platform under which he was elected as governor twice.

He announced his decision following a visit to his residence by leaders of the PDP in the South-East zone on Tuesday.

The delegation included Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, Deputy Speaker, Emeka Ihedioha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim, Governors Godswill Akapbio (Awka Ibom), Theodore Orji (Abia), PDP National Publicity Secretary, Olisa Metuh, Women Leader, Kema Chikwe among others.

Obi at the meeting promised to work towards the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan in 2015.

Close watchers say his protégé and incumbent Anambra Governor, Willy Obiano may follow suit before the general elections.
