Presidency Orders IG Of Police To Fish Out Killers Of German In Shagamu

The Ogun State Command of the Nigeria Police has been given a marching order to fish out the killer of the German national who was murdered by unknown gunmen in Shagamu over the weekend.
A high ranking police officer confided in the Street Journal that the order was handed out to the Ogun State Commissioner of Police by the Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba through the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 2. The police commissioner was directed to set out his drag nets with a view to arresting the perpetrators of the dastardly act.
It was gathered that the presidency was embarrassed by the news of the killing of the German and the abduction of another during the attack.
It was further learnt that police commands of the neighbouring states such as Oyo, Lagos, Ondo and Edo were admonished to work in collaboration with their Ogun counterpart in order to save the life of the other German in custody of the abductors.

‘’The President (Jonathan) was not comfortable with the spate of violence on foreign nationals in the country because of the negative signals it sends out there to the international community’’, said our source.
The Inspector General of Police, it was gathered had a lengthy brief with the AIG In charge of Zone 2 on the need to bring the gunmen to book, recover the abducted German and save the country the collateral image damage it has inflicted on the Jonathan administration.
Gunmen had opened fire on two vehicles carrying German nationals in Shagamu, with one killed at the scene and another abducted, police and the construction firm Julius Berger said Monday.
“About four armed men emerged from the bush near Sagamu (in Ogun state) on Friday morning and attacked,” police spokesman Abimbola Oyeyemi said. “A bullet hit one German and he was confirmed dead on arrival at the hospital, while the hoodlums abducted another German.”
A Julius Berger spokeswoman in Nigeria said the two were travelling in two separate vehicles, without their security escort.
