The endorsement allegedly given to the former Minister of State for Education, Nyesom Wike, by the First Lady, Patience Jonathan, will not make him (Wike) the Governor of Rivers State.
Rather, the endorsement given to any of the aspirants by God Almighty will count when the election proper is conducted.
This was the position of an aspirant to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Rivers State Governorship ticket, Tamunosisi Gogo Jaja, Monday at the PDP National Secretariat in Abuja.
He stated this while responding to newsmen’s inquiry about his confidence in seeking the PDP governorship ticket despite the alleged endorsement of Wike for the seat by Mrs. Jonathan.
He also expressed his reservations about the desire of Wike to govern the state again after his kinsman, Rotimi Amaechi, has spent eight years in office.
According to him, it is the turn of the Riverrine area to produce the next governor of River State and not anyone from the upland as being canvassed by some persons from the zone.
Speaking on the alleged endorsement of Wike by Dame Jonathan, he noted that though, the First Lady reserves the right as a River State indigene and First Lady to endorse anyone, the position, he said, does not make her equal to God Almighty who has final authority on all human endeavours.
