Trading activities on the Nigerian stock exchange decreased by 51.53% as investors bought 490.84 million shares worth N6.99 billion, in 5,468.00 deals, compared to 1.01 billion shares worth N6.87 billion, in 4,906.00 deals exchanged on Friday. Mansard Insurance Plc, GTB Plc, and FBNH Plc were the most actively traded stocks on the exchange today in terms of volume, while Nigerian Breweries Plc and Guaranty Trust Bank Plc in terms of value.
The Nigerian Stock Exchanges-All Share Index appreciated by 0.03% (+8.53) to close at 33,224.84 from 33,216.31 attained on Friday. Market capitalisation also increased to 11.00 trillion from 11.00 trillion the previous trading day. The BGL 50 Index also followed suit with a 0.01% loss to close at 141.92 from 141.93, while the market capitalisation stood at N10.27 trillion from N10.27 trillion recorded on Friday.
A total number of 29 stocks gained on the bourse today while 33 stocks declined leaving 63 stocks unchanged. Custodian And Allied Insurance Plc emerged the toast of investors as it appreciated by 10.15% to close at N3.58 kobo, followed by Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc with a 9.86% gain to close at N5.46 kobo. Others on the gainers chart include; UBA Plc, Oando Plc and Nigerian Breweries Plc. On the flip side R T Briscoe Plc topped the losers chart with 8.33% decline to close at N0.66 followed by Honeywell flourmills Plc, which declined by 7.76% to close at N3.21 kobo. Others on the losers table include, A.G. Leventis Nigeria Plc, Neimeth International Pharmaceuticals Plc and Berger Paints Plc.
Topping the chart amongst the BGL 50 stocks was Custodian And Allied Insurance Plc emerged the toast of investors as it appreciated by 10.15% to close at N3.58 kobo, followed by Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc with a 9.86% gain to close at N5.46 kobo. Others on the gainers chart include; UBA Plc, Oando Plc and Sterling Bank Plc. On the flip side Honeywell Flour Mill Plc topped the losers chart with 7.76% decline to close at N3.21 followed by Dangote cement Plc, which declined by 5.00% to close at N179.11 kobo. Others on the losers table include; Okomu Oil Plc, Mobil Nigeria Plc and UACN Plc.
