Rivers State PDP Governorship Aspirant, Barrister Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has urged Rivers State indigenes and residents not to be swayed by the monetary gifts of the outgoing administration in the state, saying they should work towards voting in a PDP administration by 2015.
Speaking during the grand reception in his honour at Obio/Akpor Local Government Area as part of his meet the PDP Delegates tour of the area, Barrister Wike advised the people to collect the monetary gifts, but remain focused to vote the PDP and all the party’s candidates.
He said:”The money the outgoing administration is sharing belongs to you. Just collect the money and remain focused to vote me, President Jonathan and all our candidates for the National and State Assembly elections. PDP will win in all the elections in 2015 because we are with the people. Our power comes from the people”.
Wike said as a result of his consultations with Party delegates, leaders and stakeholders from across Rivers State, he is convinced that the people are committed to a competent leadership, rather than ethnic politics.
He said that there will be no anarchy or violence during the electioneering period as predicted by aggrieved aspirants who have lost touch with the political reality in the state.
The former Minister of State for Education urged the people not to be distracted by the false propaganda being adopted by the outgoing administration and their sponsored governorship aspirants masquerading as PDP members.
In his address, Minister of Sports, Dr Tammy Danagogo said never again will a stranger who did not work For leadership be allowed to occupy the position of Governor of Rivers State. He said developmental challenges being faced today in the state is as a result of the non participation of the present governor in the leadership struggle that brought him to office.
He reiterated the support of the entire riverine and upland Rivers people for Barrister Wike as the next governor of the state because of his capacity to deliver developmental projects and restore the dignity of all Rivers people.
Senate Committee Chairman of Senate Committee on Defence, Senator George Sekibo declared that non of the Abuja based governorship aspirants will be allowed to reap where they did not sow. He said on Monday, December 8, all the delegates will file out and vote Barrister Wike to lead the party to victory.
Member of the House of Representatives, Mr Kingsley Chinda assured Barrister Wike that all delegates from different parts of the state have resolved to vote him because of the urgent need to effect the right change in the state.
Earlier, the PDP Governorship Aspirant met with the party delegates at the party secretariat where the Obio/Akpor PDP chairman, Chukwuemeka Aaron announced the endorsement of Barrister Wike as their preferred candidate.
He also paid a courtesy visit to the traditional ruler of Rumueme, Chief E.O Nsirim. Chief Nsirim described Barrister Wike as a worthy son needed to rectify the errors of the outgoing administration. He said that the state stakeholders will never allow another stranger to govern the state.
The rally was attended by PDP National And State Assembly members, federal commissioners , ward leaders and delegates, women and youth groups.
