We Begged Buhari To Contest APC Presidential Ticket –Tinubu

*Says Honesty Is Buhari’s Greatest Virtue

Foremost leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has said the virtue of honesty noted of the party’s presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari was the reason the slot of the APC flag-bearer was conceded to him.
Tinubu disclosed for the first time since the emergence of Buhari as APC’s flag-bearer that members of the party had to beg him to contest for the party’s presidential ticket.

Tinubu who disclosed this in Abeokuta earlier today said Buhari was initially reluctance to run in the elections.

He said in his native Yoruba language, “We begged Muhammadu Buhari to contest again,”

“Nigeria is challenged, and we present to you a great leader who has the ability to think and do and equals to performance.
Buhari is the man that can deliver because he is honest, he has integrity.”

Buhari then took to the stage, reiterating his commitment to restoring security, power supply, and infrastructure.

He also spoke on the vital importance of reforming the Nigerian education sector. “Certificates from Nigerian universities must be respected throughout the world,” he said.

The APC delegation to Abeokuta was led by the presidential candidate Buhari along with his running mate, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.

Other celebrated members of the party were also in attendance including the party’s national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the former Governor of Osun state, Bisi Akande.

All were warmly received by the incumbent governor, Ibikunle Amosun. Hajia Aisha Buhari and Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo, the wives of both the presidential and vice presidential candidates respectively, were also present.

The day kicked off with a courtesy visit to the palace of the Alake of Egbaland, and then proceeded to the Moshood Abiola Stadium, where party dignitaries addressed the mammoth crowd present.
