Immediate past chairman of WEMABOD, a subsidiary of Odu’a Investment Company Limited, owned by the governments of Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Osun and Ekiti States, Ismail Adebayo Adewusi, has said the support of Accord Party for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan is not negotiable.
Adewusi, who, until recently, was a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), stated this in a chat with journalists after addressing a group of students, who staged a rally in support of the re-election bid of the President.
He explained that the Accord Party, which he defected to, had adopted the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate ahead of the election since it has no presidential candidate of its own.
He said: “I have no problem identifying with the aspiration of Accord in seeing to the re-election of President Jonathan in view of what he had done in the past years in office.”
Adewusi told the students under, the aegis of ‘Students Integrity Group’, that the return of Jonathan for another four years “means continuity of the good works embarked upon in the last four years.”
He reminded the students of the various achievements recorded by Jonathan, especially as they affect the youths and maintained that the situation could only be better under him if re-elected.
The former APC chieftain said the change being mouthed by the opposition could only drag the country back because the report of the National Conference, which was midwived by the government of President Jonathan, would be jettisoned should the opposition take over.
He asked the students not to allow themselves to be used by those with inordinate ambition to rule this country at all cost, but to be steadfast and committed to good electoral process, which would give everybody a level-playing field.
“Go home from here and sensitise your parents and guardians on the good works of President Jonathan and the need for him to return come 29th May this year for the good of this country.
“Those among you that are yet to collect their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVC), please) go and do so, impress it on your parents too to do so if they have not and on no account should you trade your cards off, they are very important and remain the only weapon to ensure that we save this country from economic vampires,” Adewusi added.
