*Promises To Increase Oyo IGR If Elected
The governorship candidate of Labour Party in Oyo State, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala has berated the state governor Abiola Ajimobi over what he described as his financial inexperience.
Akala said Oyo state required some measure of financial innovations more effective than the policies being currently implemented by the current government led by Ajimobi.
The former governor who spoke through his Director of Public Affairs, Oludare Ogunlana recalled that during his tenure increased IGR to N1 billion in 2011 from N200 million it was in 2007.
He said contrary to the tax regime by the incumbent administration, “it is ‘shameful’ for this government to be realising a paltry N1 billion as IGR out of which N700 million comes from tax collected from workers while the remaining is generated from the markets and the private sector.”
He said it was ‘distasteful’ for government to owe workers who toil day and night to raise funds for the running of the administration.
He continued: “How would a government which prides itself as the most prudent employed a consultant that takes 20 percent of the revenue?
“This is a complete fraud of which Labour Party government will stop once we take power on May 29, 2015 as we shall ensure increase in IGR through agriculture and industrialisation.”
He, however, urged the people of the State, most especially workers not to despair as Labour Party and its candidates, according to him, are on rescue mission to salvage the State from the hands of political gluttons whose sole aim is to milk State purse dry.
