*As Shettima Plans To Drop Anti-APC Council Chairmen
There are indications that the All Progressives Congress (APC) ruling party in Borno state is set to drop all local government Chairmen currently romancing with the opposition People’s Democratic Party, (PDP) in the state.
State Chairman of APC, Hon. Ali Bukar Dalori leaked the plan to drop council chairman over what he described as insubordination of some of the council chairmen to the administration.
Newspot Nigeria gathered that some of the council chairmen suspected to be among those to be drop have also threatened to open up to the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related offences Commission (ICPC) on their going probe of acts of corruption in the state fish out corrupt officials in the system.
The APC Chairman said, “We have discovered that some of them (local government council chairmen) are hobnobbing with the opposition as such, they have no locust standi to continue to enjoy our friendship.
“We cannot go into election with people like that because they have shown that they are going to betray all the trust we have in them. The only way out is to drop all of them ahead of the general election, so that we can have level playing field.” Deloris revealed.
One of the local government chairmen, who pleaded anonymity, told Our Correspondent that, “This is not the time for me to reveal certain things currently ongoing, but we are heading for a bigger disgrace as a party- APC.
“The whole issue on rumor that some of us may be drop as council chairmen started when we were told to refund the 50 million naira given to each local government chairman for the elections earlier schedule for 14 and 28 February, 2015.
“You know money meant for politics is meant to be spent, when the election was shifted, some of us had already spent the money, some spend 10 million out of what they were given, other spend up to 20 million.
Now government is asking everybody to refund 50 million, which is impossible. Of course, there is no how they would ask for 50 million refund.
The day we were given the money that day we started working to ensure we do the needful and suddenly the election was shifted.
“Now some people who do not like us went and told the governor different stories and they said we should all refund the money. They know that, such kind of money can never be refunded. Now those of us who had spend out of it are now being label as PDP.
They can drop us, but it is going to be a big story, because we have stories to tell the world about the government and the party in Borno.” He said.
