The Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Rabiu Kwankwaso, has approved over N242 million for the payment of the accommodation fees of the state’s intending pilgrims’ accommodation in Saudi Arabia for the 2015 Hajj.
Hajiya Ladidi Garko, Commissioner for Information, disclosed this while addressing a press conference in Kano on Sunday on the outcome of the State Executive Council meeting.
Garko further disclosed that the council had also approved over N26 million for the re-imbursement of tuition and other associated fees for 27 Kano State students who are studying at various institutions in China on the government scholarship.
“The council also approved N191.8 million for the settlement of outstanding debt in favour of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO).
“The council also approved N10.6 million for the production of one million seedlings for the year 2015 farming season.”
According to the commissioner, the state government also approved an additional N15 million for water pipeline extension and reticulation from Kwankwaso Market to Sabon Garin Kwankwaso in the Kano metropolis.
Garko explained that this was done in a deliberate effort to develop infrastructure in the state and improve the people’s welfare.
