Katsina State Governor-elect, Rt. Hon. Aminu Masari on Saturday in Katsina, said that his administration would provide orphans in the state with free food, free education and free healthcare services in order to improve their living conditions.
Masari who made the promise while donating food items to the Katsina Orphanage Home, said the gesture was part of his efforts to improve the general living condition of people in the state, particularly the less privileged in the society.
He said: “My administration will do everything possible to cater for the need of such children so that they will grow up to be responsible people in the society.
“Orphans and widows will receive proper attention from the state government because of their peculiar situation.“
The food items donated by Masari, a former Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives during the Olusegun Obasanjo administration, included grains, pasta (spaghetti), and vegetable oil.
The Governor-elect, therefore, urged officials of the Orphanage Home to make judicious use of the food items.
An Islamic scholar, Malam Abba Muhammad, in his remark at the occasion, stressed the significance of caring for orphans.
He explained that the act must not be neglected by privileged people in the society because God would continue to shower His mercy and blessings upon people who took care of orphans.
