In spite the huge presence of armed soldiers and policemen at the venue of the inauguration of the new Niger state governor Abubakar Sani Bello, the former governor of the state, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu escaped being lynched by a mob of angry youths shortly afar he handed over power in the state.

The former governor was lucky with the alertness of security operatives who prevented the crowd from pelting him with stones.

At a time, Police and soldiers were left with no option than to fire shots in the air to disperse the surging crowd while many desperate ones attempted to humiliate him before his exit from the venue of the swearing in.

The shooting led to a stampede at the venue as people scampered to safety with many sustaining injuries of varied degrees.

Also, the former Deputy Governor of Kebbi state was booed at the Inauguration of the newly elected governor, Atiku Bagudu, and his deputy, Samaila Yombe.

The former governor of the state, Saidu Nasamu Dakingari, and the outgoing Secretary to State Government, Garba Kamba completely stayed away from the venue of the swearing-in.

The unruly attitude of the crowed in Kebbi towards the Deputy Governor, it was learnt, was targeted at the governor who was alleged to have run the state aground with corruption.

The former Deputy Governor, Ibrahim Aliyu, was reported to have made an un-ceremonial appearance and quickly presented the handing-over note to the new governor amid booing from a mammoth crowd at the Haliru Abdu Stadium.

Security personnel experienced hard task controlling the mammoth crowd with many of the youths climbing the podium and the VIP section of the venue.
