Buhari Appoints Dikwa As Acting Accountant-General Of The Federation

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Mr Mohammed Dikwa as the Acting Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF).

A statement issued from the Accountant-General’s office obtained on Saturday said that the appointment takes immediate effect.

It says Dikwa who replaces Mr Jonah Otunla, his predecessor, is to hold the position in acting capacity pending the appointment of a substantive AGF.

Until his appointment, Dikwa was the Director, Funds Department in the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation.

The Acting AGF holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Accountancy and a Masters in Business Administration and Finance.

Reasons for the change of guards at the nation’s Treasure House were not clear at the time of filing the report.

While an unconfirmed report claimed that Otunla was sacked for allegedly misappropriating N2.5 billion of security agencies’ funds, another source said he retired after attaining the mandatory retirement age of 60.

Otunla was appointed as AGF by former President Goodluck Jonathan in June, 2011 and assumed office on July 1, 2011 to replace Mr Aderemi Ogunsanya who retired on June 30, 2011.

The former AGF is a 1979 graduate of Economics of the Obafemi Awolowo University, OAU, Ile-Ife.
