Pastor Joshua Iginla, the Senior Pastor of Champions Royal Assembly, Kubwa, Abuja, on Sunday gave out 22 cars and cash donations worth millions of naira to various beneficiaries at a special church service to celebrate his birthday and that of his wife.
Apart from giving out the 22 cars, which included 10 SUVs to the beneficiaries, Iginla also unveiled 33 book titles written by him to mark the occasion.
Explaining the reason for his decision, Iginla said it was to challenge the well-to-do in the society to assist the less-privileged, having tasted poverty himself before.
Pastor Iginla said: “My birthday is all about giving to the needy. What I do here is just 10 per cent of what I do secretly. I don’t give to show off; I give to teach rich people and to provoke them to give.
“I have many people on scholarship, I have widows on my payroll, we have rescued prostitutes and empowered them with skills acquisition programmes. I have orphans I am taking care of.
“I have schools of the handicapped that we have been assisting the physically-challenged students, irrespective of their religions. Gospel is practical, not only spiritual.”
The Senior Pastor further disclosed that it was the third time that he was giving out all his cars without leaving any one behind for himself.
The public presentation of the 33 books written by Iginla was done by Benue State Governor, Mr Samuel Ortom of Benue, who commended Iginla for his humility and hard work in writing the books.
Recalling his past, Ortom said that he was a school dropout, who later became a motor park tout in Gboko, but God, by divine intervention in his life, made him to become a state Governor.
Apart from Governor Ortom, other dignitaries who attended the occasion were Senators Grace Bent, Anthony Kila and Effiong Bob.
Also in attendance were16 Nollywood actors such as Zack Orji, Francis Duru, Alex Usifo and Fathia Balogun, as well as ace female musician, Onyeka Onwenu, and gospel singers Tope Alabi and Chris Morgan.
