Boko Haram: Troops kill scores of terrorists in Yobe Encounter

The Defence Headquarters on Monday said its troops had killed scores of heavily-armed terrorists during an encounter with the terrorists in Babbangida town of Yobe State on Sunday.

According to a statement posted on the Defence Headquarters’ website, the terrorists who used women and children as shield, died as Nigerian troop engaged them in a gun battle and eventually foiled their action.

It said: “over 10 rifles, weapon accessories, hundreds of rounds of ammunition and some hand grenades were recovered from the area, as some of the terrorists fled with gunshot wounds.”

The statement also said “one soldier and a vigilance group member died, while five were wounded during the encounter.”
