The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), has said that the number of subscribers browsing the internet on Nigeria’s telecoms networks has increased to 87,055,484 users.
The commission stated this in its Monthly Internet Subscriber Data, obtained by the Street Journal on Monday.
The latest data, which is for April, 2015, showed an increase of 85,467,970 internet subscribers in March, to 87,055,484 users in April.
It also indicated an increase of 1,587,514 internet users on both the Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) and the Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) networks in April.
Out of the 87,055,484 internet users as at April, 86,904,705 were on GSM networks, while 150,779 were on the CDMA networks.
It further showed that MTN Nigeria had 39,520,285 customers browsing the internet on its network, while Globacom had 19,690,526 subscribers surfing the net with its network.
Airtel Nigeria, it said, had 17,272,665 internet users, while Etisalat had 10,421,229 of its customers browsing the internet in period under review.
It further revealed that the CDMA operators (Multi-Links and Visafone), had a joint total of 150,779 internet users on their networks.
