The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed the release of the Vice Chancellor of Ignatius Ajuru University, Port Harcourt, Professor Rosemond Osagholu, who was kidnapped by unknown persons last week.
The Vice Chancellor was abducted by unknown gunmen on June 20 while she was on her way out of the university campus.
Spokesman of the command, Mr Ahmad Muhammad, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP, disclosed this to newsmen in the state capital, Port Harcourt, on Saturday.
Muhammad said: “I can confirm to you that the Vice Chancellor of the Ignatius Ajuru University has been released.
“She is in good health and has been reunited with her family.’’
Muhammad who also disclosed that Osagholu was rescued on Friday did not speak further on whether any ransom was paid before the VC was released.
