President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Mr Lawal Daura as the new Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS).
A statement signed by Mr Haruna Imrana, Director, Communications, Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), on Thursday in Abuja, said the appointment is with immediate effect.
Daura’s appointment, it said, was conveyed in a letter by the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Mr Danladi Kifasi.
According to the statement, the new DSS D-G was born in Daura, Katsina State, on Aug. 5, 1953, and attended Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, from 1977 to 1980.
It said that Daura started his carrier in the State Security Service in 1982, rose to the rank of Director and served as the State Director of Security Service at various times in Kano, Sokoto, Edo, Lagos, Osun and Imo States.
The statement added that between 2003 and 2007, he was the Deputy Director, Presidential Communication, Command and Control Centre at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The new DSS Director-General also attended various professional courses both home and abroad, including the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, (NIPSS), Kuru.
