There was a change of baton at the Directorate of Defence Information on Thursday as Major-General Chris Olukolade, Chairman of Forum of Spokespersons of Security and Response Agencies (FOSSRA),handed over leadership of the forum to the Director of Naval Information, Navy Commodore Kabiru Aliyu.
Aliyu took over from Olukolade at the monthly meeting of FOSSRA, which comprises spokespersons of Military, Security, Intelligence and Response agencies, held in Abuja.
Speaking at the event, Olukolade who formally announced his retirement from service, told his colleagues that he ought to have left the service since Nov 2014.
He said that when he applied for voluntary retirement, the Army Council did not, however, approve it but extended his stay saying it was not proper for him to go at that time.
The former Defence Information boss thanked members and their agencies for the support and understanding they accorded him while he chaired the forum since its formation in 2013, and solicited the same level of support for his successor.
According to him, the aim of the forum is to deepen the collaboration and understanding among the security and response agencies in information management and communication.
Aliyu, in his acceptance speech, said that the sterling leadership qualities of Olukolade was the main pillar behind FOSSRA’s success.
The new Defence spokesman promised to carry on from where Olukolade stopped and strive to move the forum to another level.
