Police Stop Anti-Aregbesola Protest In Osogbo

Pandemonium was averted in Osogbo, Osun State capital on Tuesday July 7, 2015 morning when people suspected to be thugs disrupted a protest organised by a group of Civil Societies Coalition for the Emancipation of Osun (CSCEO) to rally support for Justice Folahanmi.

The serving judge of the state High Court had recently petitioned the state House of Assembly to investigate Governor Rauf Aregbesola for alleged mismanagement of the state resources.

Anti-riot policemen, however, were brought in when the protest was allegedly hijacked by people suspected to be political thugs.

According to reports, the suspected hoodlums intercepted the protesters as soon as the rally started.

The protest march, which stared at the Ayetoro junction, about 9.am ran into a hitch when the thugs pelted the protesters with sachet water, but the situation was later brought under control.

The protest, led by leaders of CSCEO, were joined by members of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP).

The march was planned to terminate at the gate of the state House of Assembly.
